Initiative to Improve Healthcare Waste Management and Reduce Environmental Pollution
Gitega, Burundi – The Burundian government has launched a state-of-the-art medical waste incinerator to address the country’s pressing issue of inadequate healthcare waste management. The incinerator, which was officially opened by the Minister of Public Health, Dr. Thaddee Ndikumagoma, is expected to improve the overall healthcare delivery in the country by ensuring proper disposal of medical waste.
Preventing Environmental Pollution
The medical waste incinerator is a vital tool in preventing environmental pollution, which is a significant concern in Burundi. The country’s health sector generates a substantial amount of hazardous waste, including infected materials, chemicals, and human tissues.
