Africa, long plagued by energy poverty and dependence on fossil fuels, is finally embracing the bright future of solar energy. The continent is seeing a surge in solar energy projects, intended to light millions of homes, schools and businesses. In 2020, the country launched the Lake Turkana Wind Project, which is expected to produce 310 MW of solar power. Innovative financing models, such as pay-as-you-go solar systems, are being developed to make solar energy more accessible to off-grid communities. Additionally, the growth of Africa’s solar industry is attracting global investors, who are looking to capitalize on the continent’s vast renewable energy potential.
