Traditionally, cremation is often associated with Western funeral practices, but it has gained popularity in recent years in Kenya, particularly due to its many benefits which provide a more sustainable, cost-effective and environmentally meaningful way to say goodbye to his loved ones.

In Kenya, cremation practices are not new, although they were largely limited to certain ethnic groups and beliefs. However, with globalization and urbanization, this practice has attracted more attention and many Kenyan families now opt for cremation as a superior alternative to traditional funeral traditions.

Increased demand for cremations

Currently, the demand for cremations is experiencing a considerable increase in Kenya, especially in urban areas. Statistics reveal that the number of cremations has increased from 10% in the 1990s to around 30% today. This upward trend is attributed to several key factors, including significant increases in urbanization rates, growing environmental concerns, and the need for new and innovative burial practices.
